A little over two months before the local elections, a survey conducted by the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon and ISCTE indicates that Carlos Moedas would proceed to a second term… but just barely. The data collected shows that Moedas holds 30% of the voting intentions.
The same study evaluates the situation in the Lisbon City Council, revealing that socialist Alexandra Leitão, along with the Left coalition, is trailing Moedas by just two percentage points.
In third place is Chega’s candidate, Bruno Mascarenhas, with 11% of the voting intentions.
Outside the top three is the CDU, which declined to form pre-election coalitions. The candidate and current councilman, João Ferreira, appears in the poll with 4% of the voting intentions.
The study also indicates that the proportion of those considering abstaining and those contemplating a blank vote is equal, at 12% each.
However, the poll also allows for the crafting of another scenario, excluding abstainers and reallocating the undecided. In this case, according to analysis, Carlos Moedas’s lead extends to five percentage points over Alexandra Leitão and the Left coalition.
And ‘popularity’?
The study further examines other aspects, particularly regarding the two main candidates. According to the results, Carlos Moedas is considered more experienced by 51% of respondents, compared to 14% for Alexandra Leitão.
The study also notes that Carlos Moedas leads Alexandra Leitão in terms of friendliness, leadership, thoughtfulness, honesty, competence, concern for others, and straightforwardness.
