The initial strike by Azul, a Ryanair subsidiary, impacting operations at Madrid’s Barajas Airport, is slated for the extended weekend from August 15 to 17, followed by the weekends of 23-24 and 30-31 of the month.
The strike action extends to the weekends of September 06-07, 13-14, October 11-12, November 01-02, 08-09, and December 20-21, 27-28, and 31.
The UGT and CGT unions have submitted the strike notice, citing reasons such as sanctions against workers refusing non-mandatory hours, with penalties potentially reaching up to 36 days of suspension without work or pay.
Additionally, they accuse the company of obstructing union activities by withholding information, blocking the workers’ committee operations, ignoring final court rulings, and practicing wage discrimination against part-time staff.
