Anotable week involves fluctuations in fuel prices. Predictions released by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) indicate a decrease in diesel prices and an increase in gasoline prices starting today.
Industry sources cited by the ACP expect gasoline prices to rise by 2.5 cents while diesel prices are set to decrease by 0.5 cents.
It is important to note that, according to the Direção Geral de Energia e Geologia (DGEG), the average price per liter of diesel in Portugal was 1.59 euros as of Friday, August 1, with gasoline at 1.678 euros.
Should these forecasts prove accurate for Monday, the average price of simple diesel is expected to drop to 1.585 euros per liter, while simple gasoline 95 is set to reach 1.703 euros per liter.

The forecasts indicate that gasoline prices are expected to increase, while diesel prices are likely to decrease.
The ACP emphasizes that “these forecasts are based on the assumption that extraordinary fiscal reduction measures applied by the government to mitigate price increases remain in place.”
“The current measures include the reduction of the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) and the compensation for additional VAT revenue,” the ACP notes.

To find the cheapest fuel stations near you, visit this link and choose the ‘filter by municipality’ option at the top, then select the corresponding district from the list that appears. Finally, choose the municipality you want to check and the type of fuel.
The daily average prices, released by the DGEG, “are calculated based on prices reported by fuel stations, weighted with the quantities sold during the last known period, including discounts practiced at the refill stations such as fleet cards and others.” This is based on information from 2,820 active fuel stations.
In light of strong price increases recently, the Minister of the Presidency indicated that the Government is monitoring fuel price developments but considers that for now, the impacts are “largely potential,” not ruling out measures if there are “very significant and lasting” increases.
António Leitão Amaro emphasized that the Government is attentive and monitoring price developments, assuring that should there be “increases that are both very significant and lasting, the Government will naturally take measures to this effect.”

Prices were expected to be lower this Monday. Notícias ao Minuto confirms a reduction in the per liter price of diesel and gasoline. But was it as much as anticipated? Check it out.
