“The fire is active in a forested area in Sobral de São Miguel,” stated a source from the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Command.
The alert was issued at 15:02 for the locality of Sobral de São Miguel, in the municipality of Covilhã, Castelo Branco district.
By 18:30, the fire was being tackled by 309 personnel supported by 89 vehicles and six aerial units, according to the website of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection.
