A 27-year-old woman and two eight-year-old children, a boy and a girl, were reported to have suffered minor injuries, according to a representative from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
The vehicle involved in the accident had four occupants, with a 40-year-old man sustaining serious injuries. He was airlifted to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), the source confirmed.
The incident occurred near kilometer 125 of the EN243, close to the locality of Ervedal in the Portalegre district, resulting in the closure of the road in both directions.
By 8:10 PM, the road cleaning operations were completed, and the road “should reopen for traffic shortly,” the civil protection command source stated.
“Now, we are awaiting the arrival of a tow truck to remove the crashed vehicle,” leaving only members of the National Republican Guard (GNR) at the scene, the source added.
A total of 32 personnel were deployed to the accident site, supported by 14 vehicles, including units from the firefighters, GNR, and INEM.
