The Sun of Caparica Festival kicks off tomorrow with renovated grounds

Da Weasel, Plutónio, Dillaz, David Carreira, Nininho Vaz Maia, Matias Damásio, and Lon3r Johny are among the artists confirmed for the festival running from August 14 to 17 at Parque Urbano da Costa da Caparica, in Almada, Setúbal district.

“This 10th edition offers the best lineup ever of O Sol da Caparica, demonstrating that the festival values and represents Portuguese and Lusophone music,” said festival promoter André Sardet in a statement.

O Sol da Caparica is organized from 2024 to 2026 by the consortium of Domingo no Mundo and Music Mov, led by André Sardet and António Gomes, together with Almada City Council, which receives financial compensation of 123,000 euros, 41,000 per year.

The festival gates open at 4:00 PM with three available entrances to access the venue.

On the last day of the festival, Parque Urbano da Costa da Caparica opens between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM for Children’s Day, featuring activities for children and available food trucks.

Throughout the 30,000-square-meter venue, there are six blocks of restrooms, more than 35 food options in the food court, and nearly 20 bar areas.

In addition to music, space is also devoted to comedy with the new Digital Stage, aimed at the new generation.

This new stage features performances by Os Primos on August 14 and 17, and podcasts Plágio and Cubinho on August 15 and 16, respectively.

The event includes two more stages hosting 37 artists over four festival days.

Palco Sagres opens Thursday with Neyna’s performance, followed by David Carreira, Julinho KSD, Dillaz, and Plutonio.

On the festival’s second day, attendees can see Bia Caboz, Matias Damásio, Grupo Menos é Mais, Nininho Vaz Maia, and Richie Campbell.

Saturday features performances by Rich & Mendes, Soraia Ramos, and Lon3r Johny. However, this third day will be marked by the return of Da Weasel to their roots.

The band is set for a two-hour concert designed exclusively for O Sol da Caparica.

Since their return to the stage, Da Weasel has anticipated a concert in their birthplace, now headlining this festival.

On Sunday, the festival closes with Portuguese hip hop group Wet Bed Gang, with prior performances by Bispo, Pikika, MC PH, and Tabanka Djaz.

At Palco Bandida, genres ranging from hip hop to funk will be featured, with artists like Mundo Segundo, Mariana Pereira, Miguel Luz, Miguel Carmona, Sertaneijinho, Curt Davis, among others.

Since 2014, O Sol da Caparica has brought together artists from Portuguese-speaking countries, promoting Lusophone musical and cultural diversity.

Daily tickets are priced at 23 euros, two-day passes cost 42 euros, and a general pass for all four days is available for 68 euros.

Residents of Almada municipality benefit from exclusive discounts, with the general pass available at 66 euros and a family package for 153 euros.

According to information from Almada City Council, public transport frequency will increase for festival access, and parking is available at Rotunda do IC 20 (free), INATEL Parks 1 and 2 (free), and P1 WEMOB Park near the boardwalk.

In this 10th edition of O Sol da Caparica, RTP, a festival partner, will broadcast several concerts live.
