Thousands of euros and doses of heroin. Three women detained in Lisbon

Three women were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of drug trafficking in the Campo de Ourique parish, Lisbon. They were found with over 35,000 euros in cash and 29,000 doses of cocaine.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) reported that the arrests occurred as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, particularly targeting this criminal activity in the Vale de Alcântara area of Lisbon.

Accordingly, “targeted and strategic actions were initiated to identify and indict several individuals strongly linked to drug trafficking activities.”

In comments to Notícias ao Minuto, PSP Sub-Intendant Rui Costa noted that the three suspects are Portuguese nationals, “between the ages of 30 and 40.”

“They are part of a structure under investigation for drug trafficking and were involved in the preparation of drugs for sale,” he clarified, adding that the arrests took place in Bairro do Loureiro, near Avenida de Ceuta.

On Tuesday, in close coordination with the first section of the Lisbon Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP), “eight house search warrants were executed, resulting in the arrest of three suspects caught in the act of preparing drugs for sale to end consumers.”

In total, authorities confiscated 28,999 individual doses of heroin and 35,940 euros in cash.

After appearing for an initial judicial hearing, the women were remanded in custody pending trial.
