An accident occurred on the National Road 2 (EN2) near Água de Todo o Ano, in the municipality of Ponte de Sor, Portalegre district, reported the Alto Alentejo Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command.
The deceased victim’s body was charred, the source stated.
The seriously injured person was airlifted to the Abrantes hospital by a helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
The accident alert was issued at 18:30, according to the sub-regional command.
Twenty-three operatives were dispatched to the scene, including firefighters, INEM, and GNR, supported by the helicopter and seven vehicles, among them an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Ponte de Sor.
The investigation of the crash is under the responsibility of the GNR’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit (NICAV).
