One injured in a fire in a building on Calçada da Estrela in Lisbon

The alarm for the fire at Calçada da Estrela was raised at 7:30 PM, and elements of the Lisbon Fire Brigade responded, with the fire declared extinguished by 8:44 PM.

The flames broke out on the roof of the building, with the cause of the fire not immediately identified.

A man was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a hospital.

A source from Lisbon’s Municipal Civil Protection reported that the building is uninhabitable for today, although it appears to have no structural damage.

The two families residing in the building and the injured man have alternative housing options on their own, the source added.

“There was no damage to adjacent buildings, and all residents have returned to their homes,” it was detailed.

A survey is scheduled to take place on Friday at 10:00 AM with Lisbon’s Municipal Civil Protection, the Lisbon Fire Brigade, and residents.
