The GNR reported road closures at 14:20 in the district of Coimbra. The affected routes include both directions of the National Road (EN) 230 between Quinta da Tapada and close to the locality of Avô (Oliveira do Hospital), EN342 in Avô, EN236 in Candal (Lousã), and EN 244 near Cerdeira, Parroselos, Relva Velha, and Camba, all in the municipality of Arganil.
In the district of Viseu, the roads affected in both directions are EN 321 in Travassos (Cinfães) and EN226 between Penso (Sernancelhe) and municipal road 533.
In the district of Guarda, closures include EN226 near Ponte Abade (Tondela), Rio de Mel (Trancoso), and Peroferreiro (Aguiar da Beira); EN331 near Ranhados (Vila Nova de Paiva), Meda, Castainço (Penedono), Penedono, Macieira (Sernancelhe), and Sernancelhe; as well as EN 229-1 between Antas (Penedono) and Trancoso.
Due to ongoing wildfires, Portugal has utilized bilateral agreements with Spain and Morocco and activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism, requesting support from four Canadair aircraft.
Portugal has been on alert for rural fire risk since August 2nd. This year, 63,247 hectares of forest spaces have burned, with half of these occurring in the past three weeks. A total of 5,963 fires have been reported, predominantly in the northern and central regions.
