An alert was issued at 9:57 PM for a traffic accident involving a car that resulted in one fatality, as stated by a source from the Leiria Regional Command.
Another individual was also attended to at the scene, the source added.
A spokesperson from the Leiria GNR informed Lusa that the deceased is a 68-year-old man.
The same source reported at 11:40 PM that the road remained closed in both directions due to ongoing work.
Emergency personnel from the Pombal Fire Department, INEM, and GNR were dispatched to the location.
