
Spring officially began a month ago on March 20. However, the month of April has lived up to its reputation with an abundance of rain, due to several storm systems passing through mainland Portugal.
The Easter weekend in the country’s highest regions, but the upcoming week seems to herald a change, potentially marking the time to put away the umbrellas.
Despite this, a cold front on Monday will bring additional precipitation, especially in the North and Center, according to Jorge Ponte, a meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). “From Tuesday onward, there is a lower probability of precipitation,” he added, predicting that showers would give way to sunshine throughout the week.
The meteorologist indicated a slight increase in temperature beginning Sunday, with further increases in maximum temperatures expected on Monday.
The rise in temperature will be “gradual over the coming days,” and by Thursday, the 24th, temperatures are expected to reach or surpass 20 degrees across almost the entire country. Nonetheless, “cool nights” are still anticipated, with minimums predicted to hover around 10 to 12 degrees.
Thursday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures ranging between 13°C and 25°C in Lisbon, 10°C and 22°C in Porto, and 16°C and 26°C in Faro.
