In a statement on the Presidency’s website, he added that the journalist “leaves an indelible memory for all those who had the privilege of working and interacting with her.”

The statement also reviewed Constança Cunha e Sá’s professional career, mentioning that the political commentator began her career at 29 with Revista Sábado, then moved on to the weekly O Independente, Diário Económico, and TVI, where she served as a political editor and commentator.

“A woman of great character, intelligence, and rigor, she distinguished herself by her independent thinking and a constant sense of civic responsibility,” it added.

Finally, “the President of the Republic extends his heartfelt condolences to her family.”

Constança Cunha e Sá passed away at the age of 67. The information was advanced by CNN and confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto, which learned that the journalist was ill.

In addition to the President, the Foreign Minister also reacted to the death of Constança Cunha e Sá.

On X, Paulo Rangel wrote: “Constança Cunha e Sá. Intelligent, cultured, straightforward, with as much irony as demand. She embodied journalistic integrity. She loved life with all its contradictions. Too human for this era—an era of artificial intelligence. Farewell, Constança.”

Similarly, José Eduardo Moniz, general manager of TVI, where the journalist worked for more than twenty years, reacted to Constança Cunha e Sá’s death. In a note of condolence sent to newsrooms, he recalled the communicator and commentator’s contributions to the channel.

“It is with deep sadness that we receive the news of Constança Cunha e Sá’s passing,” he began.

“Constança was a firm and respected voice in Portuguese journalism, always clear and courageous in her analysis. Her presence at our station and in the public debate at large always represented a commitment to truth and editorial independence,” stated the general manager of the Queluz de Baixo station.

He added: “To all who knew her, especially family, friends, and colleagues, I extend my deepest condolences.”
