The 8th edition of the initiative was held on May 28, featuring participation from various organizations, including the pet product brand Purina, which donated 4,500 meals to Gaticão – Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados, a non-profit organization that rescues abandoned animals in the municipality of Vagos, Aveiro.
Currently, it shelters approximately 200 animals, including dogs and cats, which it aims to place in responsible adoptions.
This year, the initiative once again received the high patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, alongside the agency Lusa, Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações, Dell Technologies, Colorfoto, FinePrint, TunetRadio, Guache Condomínios, Logotexto, and Visapress.
The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) also participated, providing some photographs. The TRN – Rodoviária Nacional e Internacional joined the edition, which had actor Isaac Alfaiate as its sponsor.
Established in 2017 by Lusa agency photojournalist António Cotrim, the “Uma Imagem Solidária” initiative brings together photojournalists and photographers in a charitable action, which involves the donation of a photograph to be acquired by the public. In return, the public donates a minimum of 20 euros, and the proceeds go to an association.
