An accident occurred at kilometer 259 on the highway, reported at 1:04 PM, involving several vehicles and resulting in at least four people receiving on-site medical assistance by approximately 1:45 PM.
The highway has been closed in the north-south direction near Estarreja and Santa Maria da Feira in the district of Aveiro. Authorities have not provided any estimation for when the road might reopen, nor have they been able to determine the severity of the injuries.
Firefighters from Santa Maria da Feira and Arrifana are at the scene with a total of eight vehicles. Additionally, two Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicles (VMER), one from Gaia and another from Feira, along with an Immediate Life Support Ambulance from Oliveira de Azeméis, are also involved in the emergency response.
The highway concessionaire Brisa is present on-site as well.
