The A1 motorway was closed to traffic in the south-north direction near Leiria at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday due to a fire in a goods truck, according to a civil protection source. The incident did not cause any injuries.
“The goods truck, which was carrying pallets of fruit, caught fire at kilometer 135 before the entrance to Leiria on the A1 [which connects Lisbon to Porto],” stated the source from the Sub-Regional Command of the Leiria Region.
The alert was issued at 2:12 a.m., and as of 6:15 a.m., traffic remained cut off in that section of the highway, the source specified.
At 6:20 a.m., there were 22 operatives on the scene, supported by 10 vehicles.
