The Autoestrada 2 (A2) has been closed in both directions between Castro Verde and Aljustrel due to a fire in the Messejana area, in Beja district, according to a GNR source.
The closure of the A2 is attributed to smoke from the fire.
An agricultural fire that broke out today in the Aljustrel municipality was being fought by 129 personnel supported by 37 vehicles and six aerial units at 7:30 PM, according to a Civil Protection source.
The Baixo Alentejo Emergency and Civil Protection Sub-Regional Command source reported that the fire erupted in the Senhora da Assunção area, Messejana parish, with the alert issued at 6:10 PM.
The flames are primarily consuming pasture and brushland.
The same source noted there were no reports of injuries or homes at risk.
