An incident occurred at kilometer 33 on the route from Chaves to Vila Real at 06h15. Authorities recommend drivers use the Estrada Nacional 2 (EN2) as an alternative route.
The fire has been extinguished, but 35 personnel and 11 vehicles remain at the site in the Vila Real district.
As of 08h00, they were awaiting the arrival of machinery to remove cargo and subsequently clean the road.
