Traffic was closed between the Murça and Alto Pópulo junctions (in the Bragança – Vila Real direction) due to the fire and operations to combat it, remove cargo and the vehicle transporting paper from the road, and clean the highway.
The alert for the vehicle fire was issued at 5:00 AM, occurring near exit 27, towards Alto Pópulo, in the municipality of Alijó, Vila Real district.
A source from the Douro Sub-regional Command stated, “The truck caught fire and was completely consumed by the flames, but there are no injuries.”
According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) website, 20 operatives from the Murça and Alijó fire departments, the National Republican Guard (GNR), and elements from the highway concessionaire were mobilized to the scene.
