The University of Minho’s Academic Association (AAUM) has announced a public tender open until November 24 for the operation of its bar for a two-year period.
The successful bidder will be required to adhere to prices set by the AAUM, as well as make immediate initial investments in structural, functional, and aesthetic upgrades to the bar.
The competition jury will make its decision by November 26.
In the early hours of April 12, incidents occurred inside and outside the bar, resulting in the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man.
Neither the victim nor the alleged perpetrator were university students.
Three days later, a decision was made to close the bar following a meeting between the University of Minho’s rector, the AAUM president, and the PSP, including a visit to the site.
The bar building is owned by the University of Minho and was leased to the Academic Association, which typically contracts its operations out to business owners in the field.
