Two individuals sustained severe injuries today following the crash of a light vehicle on the National Road 251 in Amoreira de Cima, in the municipality of Coruche, as reported by the Civil Protection authorities.
“Both victims are in serious condition and were transported to Santarém Hospital, one by helicopter and the other by ambulance,” stated a source from the regional command of the Lezíria do Tejo Civil Protection.
The alert was issued at 2:30 PM, mobilizing seven vehicles and 16 operatives from the Mora Fire Department, Municipal Firefighters of Coruche, Portuguese Red Cross, INEM helicopter, Santarém Hospital’s emergency medical assistance vehicle (VMER), and the National Republican Guard (GNR).
Traffic on National Road 251 “was closed from the time of the accident until 4:10 PM,” the source added, noting that circulation “has resumed but remains conditioned.”
