An incident involving a vehicle accident was reported by the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo at 12:53 PM. The accident took place between Ferreira do Alentejo and Figueira de Cavaleiros.
It involved a car that veered off the road and overturned, landing in an irrigation canal.
Tragically, one person died in the accident. A 52-year-old woman, who was also in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Beja hospital.
Emergency services comprised 13 personnel from the Ferreira do Alentejo fire department, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), and the GNR. They were supported by seven vehicles, including the Beja medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER).
