A tragic accident occurred involving a heavy goods vehicle, a passenger car, and a light goods vehicle, resulting in four casualties. Of those involved, three people were trapped, and two died at the scene.
The remaining two victims received assistance at the site of the accident, with no further details disclosed.
The incident took place in Porto Alto, within the municipality of Benavente in the Santarém district, with the alert being raised at 3:51 PM, according to local emergency services.
As of approximately 7:00 PM, traffic on the EN118 at the site remained closed in both directions.
The rescue efforts involved 30 personnel from the Samora Correia and Alcochete fire departments, National Republican Guard (GNR), and the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), supported by 12 vehicles. The response included two emergency medical and resuscitation vehicles (VMER) from the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital and Barreiro-Montijo Hospital Center.
