The accident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM (2:00 PM in Lisbon) at kilometer 352 of the A-62 highway, heading towards Salamanca, near the border with Portugal, police sources informed the Efe news agency.
The bus was on a regular international route between Porto and Madrid, and due to the accident, the occupants of the vehicle were rescued through the emergency exits located on the roof.
The salamancartvaldia.es portal reported that the accident resulted in nine injuries, seven women and two men of various ages, all non-serious, according to police forces.
The driver explained to the newspaper that a shaver or hair clipper fell at his feet, and when trying to pick it up, the vehicle swerved to the right, mounted the terrain beside the highway, and overturned.
Among the 46 passengers of different nationalities were Portuguese, Spanish, and French, as reported by the same Salamanca media outlet, in the Castile and León region.
