“Hamlet”, “Measure for Measure” and “Macbeth” are the three plays by Shakespeare forming the foundation of the show “Quem está aí?”, where the actor explores the human condition by questioning what is in the minds of Hamlet, Angelo, and Macbeth, the central characters of those Shakespearean works.
The production results from a partnership begun in 2012 between Ron Daniels, a director based in New York and one of the main theatrical directors of the British Royal Shakespeare Company of Stratford-upon-Avon, and actor Thiago Lacerda, focusing on the Bard’s work, which resulted in three productions.
“Hamlet” (2012), “Macbeth and Measure for Measure” and “Shakespeare Repertoire” (2015) were the three productions born from this collaboration centered around the English writer.
In 2024, the partnership between Thiago Lacerda and Ron Daniels also yielded another production, “The Plague”, by Albert Camus.
“Quem está aí?” will be performed at Time Out studio on November 30th, December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, always at 21:00.
Outside Mouco, in Porto, hosts the play on December 4th at 21:00.
With only a table and a chair as the set, “Quem está aí?” aims to create an intimate and reflective atmosphere with the audience, concludes the producer’s statement.
Directed by Ron Daniels, who, alongside Marcos Daud, also signs the translation of Shakespeare’s texts, the play features music by Jordi Savall.
