If the legislative elections were held today, the AD coalition would emerge victorious. Despite both parties showing better results than last May, the Socialist Party (PS) would return to second place, surpassing Chega. This data comes from a survey conducted by the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon (ICS-UL) and the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE) for SIC/Expresso, released this Friday.
With 12% of respondents admitting to being undecided, the PSD/CDS coalition would secure 31% of the votes, followed by the PS with 28%. This would allow the socialists to reclaim the leadership of the opposition, overtaking Chega, which would accumulate 24%.
Further down, the Liberal Initiative (IL) would receive 4% of the votes, while both CDU and Livre would tie at 3%. The Left Bloc (BE) would account for 2%.
Without accounting for undecided voters, the ranking remains: AD would have 25%, PS would register 21%, and Chega would obtain 19%.
IL and CDU would tie at 3%, while Livre would stand at 2%. Meanwhile, BE would register 1%.
This survey was conducted between November 7 and 17 by GfK Metris, encompassing residents of Portugal, of both genders and aged 18 or over. The information was collected through direct and personal interviews at the respondents’ homes, resulting in 807 valid interviews. The margin of error is 3.5%, with a confidence level of 95%.
Another poll previously indicated AD’s growth and Chega’s decline
A poll conducted by Pitagórica for JN, TSF, TVI, and CNN, released last week, had already reported that AD was on the rise and Chega was declining, being overtaken by PS.
The study indicated that the coalition led by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro would currently have between 32 and 38% of voting intentions, while Chega would receive 16.7%. PS, on the other hand, would accumulate 26.4%.
Livre (5.7%) would be ahead of IL (5.3%), while BE would continue its downward trend (0.7%). However, CDU (2.4%) and PAN (0.9%) would lose half a point compared to the May 18 election.
This poll was conducted between November 5 and 14, aiming to gauge the opinions of the Portuguese regarding topics related to the 2026 presidential elections.

A survey conducted five months after the legislative elections shows that the party led by Luís Montenegro is increasingly consolidated. PS is also growing, while Chega is in decline.
