An altercation occurred today in the city of Leiria, where a video has surfaced showing the ADN party’s head of list and another man on the ground. The candidate was then struck with a kick before returning to his car parked on the road.
Nuno Henriques Barroso stated to the Lusa agency that a man in a vehicle with other individuals began shouting insults at him, prompting him to “understand what was happening.”
“The driver initiated the verbal aggression. Then another man got out of the passenger seat,” he remarked.
Following the altercation, the candidate reported suffering from bruises and pain, as well as bleeding from his mouth and elbow.
Barroso confirmed filing a complaint with the PSP for assault, providing them with the vehicle’s license plate number.
He added plans to visit the Medical-Legal and Forensic Office at Hospital de Santo André in Leiria for a forensic damage assessment.
A source from the Leiria District Command of the PSP confirmed a complaint was registered.
Last week, the candidate had filed a complaint with the PSP regarding the destruction of election propaganda.
The complaint indicated that ADN posters across several streets and avenues in Leiria were mostly removed, with some also damaged that night.
