A 42-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police in Setúbal for persistently stalking and threatening his former partner after the relationship ended. The arrest, made outside of an immediate crime scene, involved charges related to assault and domestic violence.
The victim, aged 43, filed a complaint with the GNR on August 8 this year. She reported that she had been in a relationship with the suspect from June 2018 to February 2025, during which she suffered physical, verbal, psychological, and sexual violence, often in the presence of her children.
In February, the woman decided to end the relationship, but the man continued to harass, stalk, and threaten her.
The detainee has a criminal history related to offenses against physical integrity.
He is expected to attend a judicial hearing today, where appropriate preventive measures will be determined.
