A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday by the National Republican Guard (GNR) for possessing a prohibited weapon in the municipality of Moita.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the GNR reported that during a road inspection, they “spotted an object concealed in the vehicle’s armrest, whose features matched those of a firearm.”
Following this “approach” and based on the “strong indications of a weapon’s presence,” a “search of the vehicle’s interior” was conducted.
A revolver, a wooden baton, two mobile phones, and 42 rounds of various calibers were discovered and seized.
The suspect was detained and brought before the Moita Judicial Court for the “application of coercive measures.”
