
The Complemento Solidário para Idosos (CSI) is a monthly financial support provided to low-income elderly individuals in Portugal who are at or above the standard retirement age for the country’s general Social Security Old Age Pension, which is currently 66 years and 7 months.
As per the Social Security payment schedule, this support is among the social benefits disbursed this Thursday, May 8th.
How much is received?
According to Social Security, the monthly amount corresponds to 1/12 of the difference between the annual reference value of the supplement (7,568 euros) and the individual’s annual income.
“An individual beneficiary may receive a maximum of 630.67 euros per month. For a couple, the annual reference value of the supplement is 13,244 euros,” the organization’s website states.
How long is it received?
“Beneficiaries of the Complemento Solidário para Idosos (CSI) who have their eligibility recognized will continue to receive the benefit unchanged until one of the conditions that require a renewal of the Means Test is met, or a request for such is submitted,” the website further explains.
