The leader of Chega, André Ventura, stated three times, during Monday’s debate with Mariana Mortágua, coordinator of the Bloco de Esquerda, that the house he lives in measures 30 square meters. Less than 24 hours later, in an interview on Júlia Pinheiro’s program on SIC, he admitted that the residence is actually larger, measuring 70 square meters.
“I was wrong, it was really a lapse, it’s 70, but it’s a one-bedroom. The closet is very small, just a tiny wardrobe for my clothes,” Ventura explained.
In response, the presenter expressed shock. “André lied,” remarked Júlia Pinheiro.
In the document submitted to the Constitutional Court in 2021, while running for the Presidency of the Republic, Ventura shared the address of a one-bedroom apartment in MetroCity, a private condominium in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações, equipped with 24-hour security, a swimming pool, a garden, and a playground.
The homes available in this condominium range from 78 to 154 square meters, as per Polígrafo. Hence, there is no housing available with 30 square meters, as initially stated by the leader of Chega.
Furthermore, an apartment with a gross private area of 151 square meters is valued at 575,000 euros for purchase. The smallest one-bedroom apartment is priced at 1,690 euros per month.
