What is “cardiac arrhythmia”?

But what is this condition that affected the Prime Minister? “Arrhythmias occur when the heart’s electrical impulses that coordinate the heartbeats are not transmitted properly, causing the heart to beat too fast (tachycardia), too slow (bradycardia), or irregularly,” explains the healthcare network CUF’s website.

In most cases, the symptoms are absent. However, they can end up affecting the heart’s ability to pump blood, leading to nausea, dizziness, and even fainting.

Palpitations, chest pain, and difficulty breathing are other symptoms to watch out for: “It is important to seek a doctor whenever these signs appear suddenly or occur frequently.”
