The gray seal that was spotted over the past few days on beaches in the municipality of Cascais was seen again this Sunday on Santo Amaro de Oeiras beach in Oeiras.

“In recent days, a gray seal was spotted in the Cascais area. Today, it was seen again on Santo Amaro de Oeiras beach,” revealed VOST Portugal – Association of Digital Volunteers in Emergency Situations, on the social network X.

In the same note, VOST Portugal warned that if a seal is spotted, one should keep their distance, as “although they may seem harmless, they can bite if they feel threatened.”

One should also “observe the behavior.” “If it’s active and breathing normally, it may just be resting,” the note reads.

It should be noted that the first sighting occurred on Wednesday at Praia dos Pescadores in Cascais. RALVT – Stranding Network of Lisbon and Tagus Valley revealed through social media that they received an alert from the Maritime Police of Cascais at 5:45 PM, reporting the presence of the gray seal on that beach.

On Friday, RALVT “received another alert of a gray seal sighting,” “but this time the animal was spotted near the Paredão in the Monte Estoril area.”
