After having the exam suspended, student assaults female professors at Law School

A student assaulted two professors supervising an exam at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to the teachers.

In a statement released on Wednesday on the faculty’s website, it was disclosed that the incident occurred after the student’s exam was suspended due to suspected academic fraud.

The FDL explained that “towards the end of the exam, the student returned unexpectedly and assaulted the professors, leaving them injured and in shock.”

“In the face of this public crime and serious disciplinary infraction at our School, all necessary reports and measures were promptly taken to ensure the collection of essential elements for initiating both criminal and disciplinary proceedings to achieve justice in this case,” the statement noted.

The faculty also announced the initiation of a disciplinary procedure, “with the immediate preventive suspension of the student from all school activities, with the inherent effects.”

In the ongoing process, the FDL will act as an assistant in the ensuing criminal proceedings and will provide suitable and necessary support to the professors involved, expressing its solidarity with them.

“The Faculty of Law of Lisbon is uncompromising towards such behavior against its faculty members and any situation that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of its academic community,” the statement concluded.
