Leiria, September 17, 2025 – Performers such as Tó Trips & Fake Latinos, Sheherazaad, Abdullah Miniaway, and Raquel André are among the guests slated for the fourth Ágora festival at the Castle of Leiria, featuring concerts, performances, installations, and family activities from Friday to Sunday.
This year, in a condensed format, the Omnichord-produced event resembles a festival, offering 11 multidisciplinary acts aligned with the project’s original concept of blending creativity with one of Leiria’s key historical and cultural landmarks.
The organizers aim to encourage a unique appreciation and contemplation of both tangible and intangible heritage within the Castle of Leiria through a program comprising music, performing arts, artistic installations, and family workshops.
Ágora commences on Friday with the inauguration of “Povo Pássaro,” an installation by Bárbara Paixão and Artur Pispalhas, specifically created for the festival, representing Palestine and calling for resistance and the affirmation of existence.
On the first evening, Raquel André will present “Pertença | Belonging,” a cine-concert featuring drummer Aliu Baio from Guinea-Bissau.
American singer, composer, and performer Lyra Pramuk, residing in Germany, will conclude the night in Leiria with a fusion of improvisation and electronic music.
The intersection of improvisation and technology also marks Pedro Almiro’s concert, opening the second day of Ágora early Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s lineup includes the indo-American Sheherazaad presenting her album “Qsar,” Egyptian artist and poet Abdullah Miniaway’s performance “The evens, Rahmna,” and Portuguese band Memória de Peixe showcasing their new album “III.”
On Sunday, Ágora begins with workshops for young audiences and continues with Joana Gama & Yaw Tembe, blending trumpet, cello, percussion, and enchanting voices in a performance likened to “tectonic movements and liberated spirits in a leisurely time,” according to Omnichord.
The festival concludes with performances by Djilam Turé, a singer, composer, and dancer from Guinea-Bissau, and Tó Trips & Fake Latinos, presenting their album “Dissidente” at the Castle of Leiria.
Entry to the festival is free for residents of the Leiria municipality (with proof of address and identification) and costs 2.10 euros per day for other attendees.
