The official visit of the President of the National Assembly of France to Portugal is scheduled to commence with a welcoming ceremony at the Palácio de São Bento at 10:30 am.
The visit’s agenda includes military honors, the signing of the book of honor, a bilateral meeting between the presidents of the parliaments of Portugal and France, and a meeting between the parliamentary delegations of both countries.
The visit also features a brief tour of the exhibition “Portuguese Porcelains: The Harmony of Opposites.”
Concerning foreign relations, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, conducted an official visit to London earlier this month. Invited by the Speaker of the House of Commons, he also engaged with representatives of the Portuguese community.
During his stay in the UK capital, Aguiar-Branco visited the Westminster Parliament, holding various institutional meetings, particularly with the Presidents of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
In London, Aguiar-Branco emphasized to the Lusa agency that such exchanges with other parliaments facilitate “having deputies with better knowledge of the matters and international policies.”
“It allows for a better understanding of what is happening in relation to countries with which Portugal maintains bilateral relations,” he added.
