“From July 1, the emergency medical air transport service will be provided by aircraft and medical teams from the Portuguese Air Force,” stated a joint communiqué released today by the Ministries of National Defense and Health.
According to the government, this solution, reached by the two ministries, ensures the National Emergency Service for the Portuguese people until the international public tender for contracting the INEM’s emergency medical helicopter service (SHEM), awarded in March to Gulf Med Aviation Services, receives approval from the Court of Auditors and can be implemented under optimal security conditions.
