The Air France-KLM Group announced plans to increase its stake in SAS from the current 19.9% to 60.5%, acquiring all shares held by Castlelake and Lind Invest.
In the summer of 2024, the group acquired a stake in the Scandinavian airline, which had been weakened by the Covid-19 pandemic, and initiated a commercial partnership between Air France, KLM, and SAS based on expanded code-share and interline marketing agreements.
This cooperation was strengthened when SAS joined the SkyTeam alliance.
At the time, Air France-KLM did not hide its intention to “increase its stake in order to become a majority shareholder after a minimum period of two years”.
“Subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals and the lifting of precedent conditions, the aim is to complete the transaction in the second half of 2026,” stated the group, emphasizing that this project “reflects the success of SAS’s restructuring and the positive results of the commercial cooperation initiated in 2024.”
