Airbus inspects 628 aircraft for quality defects in the fuselage

According to recent reports, the majority of these aircraft remain in the possession of the European company, with 245 currently in final assembly or being prepared for delivery. Additionally, 215 are in earlier stages of production, and 168 are actively in service with airlines.

The manufacturer anticipates that a “significant proportion” of the panels will meet its specifications, indicating they will be valid in their current state.

This new issue emerges just days after Airbus identified a problem with the software on its A320 family aircraft, impacting approximately 6,000 planes, a situation mostly resolved.

“We are working with our airline customers to support the modification of less than 100 remaining aircraft and ensure they can return to service,” the company emphasized on Monday.

Airbus also expressed regret for the difficulties and delays the incident has caused to passengers and airlines.

The European manufacturer is continuing to face challenges meeting its annual target of delivering a total of 820 commercial aircraft.
