Algarve. Another 24 migrants sent to temporary centers today.

The first group of nine people departed around 3:00 PM heading to Porto, while the remaining 15 will be placed in Faro, stated Captain Joana Machado, public relations officer of the Coastal and Border Control Unit of the National Republican Guard (GNR).

As reported by the GNR, another six individuals, including two men, a woman, and three children, who were part of the migrant group that landed on Boca do Rio beach in the parish of Burgau, Vila do Bispo municipality, were relocated Monday night to temporary accommodation centers.

Of the total 38 migrants, eight will stay in the Sagres pavilion, one of whom was hospitalized in Portimão and has been discharged today; this individual is to appear in court on Wednesday, detailed Captain João Machado.

The relocation of this last group of migrants is expected in the coming days, pending accommodation availability in CIT, the GNR noted.

CIT are temporary accommodation facilities managed by the PSP, meant for foreigners subject to enforced removal from the country, and they can also house foreigners awaiting placement in reception centers or the decision on international protection requests.

The maximum duration for migrants to stay in these centers is 60 days, and the entire removal process from Portugal must be overseen by PSP officials.

On Friday, the Civil Protection Service of Vila do Bispo provided a sports pavilion in Sagres to temporarily house the migrants.

On Saturday, the court decreed that the migrants should be housed in temporary installation centers until the return process to their country of origin is completed, either voluntarily or enforced.

The 38 migrants, comprising 25 men, six women, and seven minors, are all Moroccan nationals.

The arrival of these 38 migrants at Boca do Rio beach in Vila do Bispo, Faro district, prompted the Portuguese Navy and the National Maritime Authority to increase surveillance along the Algarve coast since Saturday.
