Routine analysis under the municipal pools’ water analytical control plan led to the temporary closure of the swimming pool in Aljezur due to the detection of irregular values, the municipality announced on social media.
The Aljezur Council did not disclose the cause of the irregular values in its statement.
When contacted, Aljezur’s vice-president Fátima Neto said she was not aware of which microorganisms caused the test values to be outside normal parameters but confirmed that it was not Legionella.
Immediate procedures as per the protocols for disinfection and normalization of water values were adopted, and a retest is expected on Thursday, Neto stated.
When asked about the reopening date for the learning pool, Neto indicated that she could not specify a timeframe, mentioning that the process might “take a few days,” from applying the normalization procedures to receiving laboratory confirmation that values meet the standards.
