The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) advises individuals in regions of very high risk to wear sunglasses with UV filters, hats, t-shirts, seek shade, and use sunscreen, while discouraging sun exposure for children.
UV indices range from 1 and 2, indicating low UV levels, 3 to 5 (moderate), 6 to 7 (high), 8 to 10 (very high), and above 11 (extreme).
IPMA forecasts hot weather and generally clear skies, with more cloudiness along the western coastal strip, predicting a rise in temperatures, especially the maximum and on the western coast.
The wind will generally be light, predominantly from the east quadrant, occasionally strong in the highlands until mid-morning and from late afternoon, temporarily moderate from the northwest on the west coast during the afternoon, particularly north of Cabo Espichel.
Today’s maximum temperatures are expected to range between 28 degrees in Aveiro and 42 degrees in Évora and Santarém.
