The list provided to Lusa by the campaign indicates that among António José Seguro’s supporters are the mayors of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro; Loures, Ricardo Leão; Viseu, João Azevedo; Faro, António Miguel Pina; Bragança, Isabel Ferreira; and Évora, Carlos Zorrinho.
“I am proud to see this list of mayors growing. We are facing 127 municipal leaders who know the country and its people,” Seguro stated in a declaration sent to Lusa.
According to the presidential candidate supported by the PS, “this national movement continues to grow.”
Most of the mayors on this list were elected by the PS in the last local elections, but there are also names who won through independent movements.
This includes the mayors of Vila Nova de Poiares, Caldas da Rainha, or Figueiró dos Vinhos.
António Beites Soares, elected by Nós Cidadãos for Belmonte, after having been president for PS in Penamacor, also supports Seguro.
From the Lisbon district, supporters of the former PS leader include the mayors of Alenquer, Amadora, Arruda dos Vinhos, Azambuja, Odivelas, and Vila Franca de Xira, in addition to Odivelas.
In the Porto district, Seguro has the support of the mayors of Felgueiras, Gondomar, Lousada, Marco de Canaveses, Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Santo Tirso, Valongo, and Vila do Conde, in addition to Matosinhos.
