Almost 16,000 vacancies in the 2nd phase of access to higher education

According to the data released today by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation (MECI), 15,923 positions are open for application, the vast majority being spots that had no applicants during the first phase.

During the first attempt to enter higher education, more than 43,000 students were placed in a public institution, but 11,513 positions remained unfilled.

This number is supplemented by 4,401 spots for which students were placed but did not enroll, and an additional 20 spots.

Among the courses with more vacancies available in the second phase, there are several in the field of Computer Engineering, particularly at institutions in the interior of the country, such as the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, and the polytechnic institutes of Bragança, Castelo Branco, and Guarda.

The application deadline for the second phase of the national access competition started on August 25 and ends on Wednesday.

By the end of Sunday, 12,889 students had applied, according to the latest data updated daily on the Directorate-General for Higher Education’s website.

The results will be announced on September 14, followed by a third phase from September 23 to 25 with the remaining vacancies.
