
A wildfire began at 1:32 p.m. in the parish of Vila de Rei, as reported on the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority. By 3:00 p.m., 186 personnel, 48 vehicles, and 11 air resources were involved in fighting the blaze.
A spokesperson from the Beira Baixa Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told the Lusa news agency at 2:20 p.m. that “the firefighting efforts are currently proceeding favorably, and there are no residences at risk.” The fire is located in an area of bushes and forest, characterized as “a location with difficult access and a very steep incline.”
