The Faro Territorial Command, through the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Tavira, dismantled a cannabis greenhouse and arrested a 79-year-old man for cannabis cultivation in the Tavira municipality on November 4 [Tuesday], according to a statement from the National Republican Guard (GNR).
This security force had been investigating this case for about three months and detained the suspect under a house search warrant, the statement adds.
According to the GNR, the dismantled cannabis greenhouse was set up in an outbuilding of the suspect’s residence.
The operation resulted in the seizure of various materials including 21 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, an illumination grid, a carbon dioxide (CO2) regulator, a precision scale, a mixing grinder, and a surveillance camera.
The suspect was heard by a judge at the Faro Judicial Court on Wednesday, where the least severe coercive measure for a defendant was applied, allowing his release with the condition of identity and residence term.
