The traffic on the Complementary Itinerary (IC) 8 in Pombal, previously halted due to a fatal road accident, is now alternating, according to the National Republican Guard (GNR).
The accident, a head-on collision between a passenger car and a heavy goods vehicle, occurred at 07:43.
The fatality is a 25-year-old woman, the driver of the passenger vehicle.
The Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of the Leiria Region reported that the accident occurred at kilometer 45 and also resulted in one minor injury.
Seven vehicles and 16 personnel from the fire department, National Institute of Medical Emergency, and GNR were dispatched to the scene.
