The emergency service at Hospital Doutor Fernando Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra) is temporarily suspended this Tuesday due to a “total breakdown of the computer system.”
“The Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca (HFF) informs that, due to a total breakdown of the computer system, it was necessary to temporarily suspend all activity in the emergency department,” stated the local health unit in a communiqué.
The institution advises patients to contact the SNS24 line “to find alternatives.”
Hospital Amadora-Sintra assures that “health care for hospitalized patients is guaranteed” and “regrets the inconvenience caused.”
In the same statement, the local health unit “reaffirms the commitment to work diligently and with the utmost urgency to restore systems and resume normal activity as soon as possible.”
It is noteworthy that in February of this year, Amadora-Sintra announced that it reached a historic activity record for 2024. Last year, the local health unit maintained a high demand for emergency services, with 203,570 admissions.
Additionally, it reported an investment of 9.2 million euros in the requalification of spaces and technological renewal of clinical and non-clinical equipment, three times the amount compared to 2023.
