American singer Ne-Yo performs in April in Lisbon.

Ne-Yo, a three-time Grammy Award winner and “one of the most prominent names in R&B,” is set to perform on April 16 at the MEO Arena, as announced by the event’s promoter, Sodade, in a statement released today.

The American singer first performed in Portugal last year as part of the Rock in Rio Lisboa lineup.

Ne-Yo’s career, at 46, “skyrocketed” in 2005 with the track “So Sick” from his debut album, “In My Own Words.”

“Since then, he has built a catalog of hits including ‘Sexy Love,’ ‘Because of You,’ ‘Closer,’ ‘Miss Independent,’ and ‘Push Back,’ hits that have marked different generations and cemented his artistic identity, characterized by an unmistakable voice, melodic ability, and intense performances,” the promoter states.

With his second album, “Because of You,” released in 2007, he earned his first Grammy for Best R&B Album.

The song “Miss Independent,” from “Year of the Gentleman” (2008), garnered him two more Grammys, for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Vocal Performance.

His most recent album, “Self Explanatory,” is his eighth studio album and was released in 2022.

This year, he released a new single, “Simple Things,” which is expected to be part of an upcoming album.

Ne-Yo also writes for other artists, having crafted hits like Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” “Russian Roulette,” and “Take a Bow,” as well as Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable.” He has also penned songs for Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, and Mario, among others.

Tickets for Ne-Yo’s concert in Lisbon, priced between 35 and 85 euros, will be available for purchase starting at 09:00 on Thursday.
