The amount of water stored decreased in June in eight hydrographic basins and increased in four, according to data from the National Information System of Hydric Resources (SNIRH), referring to the state of 12 basins.
Last month’s storage by river basin was, on June 30th, above average, with the exception of the Sado, Guadiana, Mira, Arade and Algarve river basins, which again hold the least amount of water, only 11.7% of capacity, when the average is 69.9%.
On the contrary, the basins of the Lima, with 92.8%, the Mondego, 87.8%, the Ave, 87%, and the Cávado 83.9% had the most water and were the ones that increased the volume compared to May.
Of the 57 reservoirs monitored – each hydrographic basin can correspond to more than one reservoir – 23 have water availability of more than 80% of the total volume and ten have availability of less than 40%.
